Let's Burrito and Say We DidFebruary 2012
2012 Hiatus #1
Our panel shall now enjoy Mexican food in another, more southerly region of California through mid March. Kindly hold the fort.

February Taqueria Visits
2/23: Tacos San Buena on Sansome takes mediocrity to a wholly dull level. And we are there!
2/20: North Beach's Taq. San Jose is but one intangibility mustache away from eight-mustache glory...and yet still so far.
2/16: Ingredient mix issues and a dubious lack of spice keep El Tepa Taq. in our seven-mustache ghetto.
2/12: Despite its ordinary-looking rating, our fries-laden widemouth superslab at El Tesoro is a succulent success.
2/8: We feel like we’ve been had by La Fonda after the Inner Sunset taqueria delivers an uncharacteristic shrugger of a slab.
2/3: It’s workmanlike supremacy at Taq. El Farolito, where the kitchen earns this storied slabbery its first-ever nine-mustache rating.

Our Onslaught Lurches ForthJanuary 2012
January Taqueria Visits
1/29: The Little Chihuahua has no business wallowing in the seven-mustache mire.
1/27: An already flavor-deficient burrito with a spice level as flat as the Mission itself? Who’s to blame? La Piñata is to blame.
1/24: A slow start at Gordo Taq. on Geary ends in a furiously mustachioed finish.
1/19: It’s another festival of mediocrity at Taq. Menudo.
1/17: Our lunch at Fat Taco is neither fat nor a taco. It’s also not very highly rated.
1/14: When it comes to adding bacon and hot salsa to its breakfast burrito, Go Getters Grill’s get-up-and-go doesn’t move an inch.
1/10: On the grand, Yosemite-like landscape of San Francisco taquerias, Zapata Mexican Grill is insignificant shrubbery.
1/8: The latest entry in Taq. San Francisco’s wildly up-and-down mustache story is the fourth-highest-rated slabquake ever recorded on our storied burrichter scale: 9.27 hairy ones. Onions!
1/4: Aguila de Oro Taq. scuttles our ambition to begin our burrito-eating 2012 with something better than a sub-six-mustache disaster.

December Taqueria Visits
12/30: Mole mole mole mole mole Papalote mole mole mole mole mole mole....
12/27: El Norteño isn't sustaining the form that propelled it to the 2008 Slab Scrum title.
12/23: It’s a total melto-cheese overthrow at the Outer Sunset’s El Burrito Express...in all the right ways.
12/20: Did you know Pacific Heights boasts a top-ten burritoteria? Tacobar kicks a lot of ass.
12/15: Inebriated late at night? Taq. Zorro might be a good bet. Sober in the daytime? You can do better.
12/13: Tropically fruity meat is the order of the day at La Palma Mexicatessen.
12/9: Strengths far outnumber weaknesses in our latest foiled lunch at Caramba.
12/4: The Mission’s Taq. Guadalajara delivers another reputable, if by-the-numbers slab.

November Taqueria Visits
11/30: After a lengthy stay at the top, Gordo Taq. tumbles a few notches down our Mustache Chart.
11/27: San Francisco’s newest Taq. Vallarta shop, on Mission near 16th St., knows what it’s doing...especially when it comes to creating a downcast atmosphere.
11/22: It takes more than killer salsa verde to find the mustachioed groove. Example 1A: Tacos San Buena at Pacific and Sansome.
11/20: We're there for ¡Chorizofest ’11! at Taq. Guadalajara in the Excelsior. You didn't miss anything.
11/16: It’s all magnificence and no weaknesses at La Laguna Taq., now number three on our Mustache Chart.
11/12: El Burrito Express on Divisadero? Mighty tasty, as usual.
11/10: Maintaining its toehold in our Mustache Chart’s top ten, Taq. Reina’s still makes the finest burritos in Crocker-Amazon.
